A lovely place to go when you're craving some good Mediterranean/Turkish food. It's a cozy, attractively-decorated, intimate little place in an area proliferated with restaurants, nightlife, and theatre. My companion and I ordered the carrot tarator as an appetizer and it was tasty (though I usually don't like carrots on the rawer side as they give me heartburn, so I applied to the pita as sparingly as I could). The grilled salmon was delicious and flavorful and came with a nice side salad of arugula, shaved beets, grape tomatoes, and shaved carrots (thankfully, all items are served side by side and you can mix to your own liking). My companion had the sea bass, proclaimed they weren't going to eat it all, but did because it was so good. The service is kind and does not rush you. You do need to ask for the check. They do validate parking for the Crown Street Garage a block away. This isn't the first time I've been here, and I'm surprised I never reviewed it before. Obviously, it's good. Give it a try when you want a quieter place to share a meal.

We came by for lunch. We shared the dishes together. I loved the chicken shish and the yogurtlu adana. The flavors were vibrant and it was a very filling lunch. It wasn't crowded despite being a weekend and the service was attentive.

I came for lunch on a weekend and got a table quickly. The service was quick and attentive. I got the chicken shish and yogurthu adana to share with a friend. Both dishes were very good and seasoned well.

The Mediterranean food here is sort of tailored for an American crowd. The quality of meat is really good, although this place isn't somewhere I would suggest to go on a regular.

Midpoint offers an authentic and enjoyable experience that captures the essence of Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant serves various Turkish and Mediterranean dishes, among which the Chicken Shish is my personal favorite and a must-try. Like other menu items, the chicken shish is characterized by its fresh and authentic flavors, capturing the essence of traditional Turkish cooking. The ambiance of Midpoint Istanbul is well-regarded, with a nicely decorated and chill vibe that makes it suitable for both dates and with friends. It's a great place to enjoy a meal, though it may not be the largest of spaces, giving it a cozy and intimate feel. The service is great! Kind and helpful employees. However, there are a few downsides to note. The space is small, and parking is a challenge. While they offer free parking at nearby garages (Temple Street Garage or Crown Street Garage) with a validation card from 4 PM until 3 AM, there may still be limited space for those looking to dine in larger groups or during peak hours.

I really enjoyed everything we had to eat and drink. This was our first time here, and we will absolutely will be back. We loved our drinks. They were perfect. The hummus was so fresh tasting. It came with veggies and pita. We opted for one of the lamb dishes, with yogurt and it was absolutely delicious.

This place has been on my list for so long! Walked in it's a cute little spot with a lot of outdoor seating for the summer months, they have a cafe and restaurant inside. We first tried their lentil soup which was sooo good. Perfect taste and I love it with the bread. I tried their cherry juice which is a given for Turkish restaurants , and my husband tried the yogurtlu Adana which was so good. I was blown away by the flavor in this dish the yogurt paired with the tomatoes sauce was amazing. Also my Adana kebab was great too very well seasoned and perfectly made. The food came out very quick within maybe 20 minutes which was nice. And staff was attentive. I will be coming back!

===== RATING: B+ ===== Midpoint Istanbul prides itself in being the first "Modern Mediterranean" spot in New Haven influenced by cuisine from the Byzantines to the Ottomans. While it's not a phenomenal, world-class fine dining experience, Midpoint craftily elevates traditional Mediterranean food above the hole-in-wall-esque mom-and-pop shop standard. We stopped by for a casual dinner and overall, it was satisfyingly pleasant. === [FOOD: 6/10] === Ordering was easy! I love that their menu has pictures of pretty much everything. It makes it super user-friendly for people new to the Mediterranean scene. = Spicy Tampenade (6/10) = All the veggies were cooked to perfection! It was well incorporated with the seasoning and I loved the zingy-ness of the lemon and sour pomegranate juice. It didn't look like much, but it was pretty filling as an appetizer. I would say it was on the pricier side though. = Eggplant Salad (6/10) = Light and refreshing! It was definitely a contrast to the heavier, more savory Spicy Tampenade we had with it. It was good, but nothing super special. It was also on the pricier side. = Chicken Shish (7/10) = The chicken was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. The tart char-grilled tomato balanced out the saltiness of the chicken while the grilled pepper gave it a little kick. It came with two different kinds of rice which were both a little dry, but paired well overall with the moist chicken and tomato. === [SERVICE: 5/10] === Our server wasn't particularly friendly, but wasn't rude either. It might have been an off day for him. While the service wasn't phenomenal, I have no major complaints. === [AMBIANCE: 7/10] === I can't speak for the inside, but the outdoor space is adorable! We sat outside on the patio to enjoy the lovely late-spring sun, and even with it being on a fairly busy intersection, it wasn't noisy. There was good lighting, music, and easy access to the servers. I would definitely sit outside again when the weather is nice. ===== [OVERALL: 6/10] ===== Midpoint didn't quite live up to my expectations as a "fine dining" experience and I have yet to experience the more "modern" or fusion-y aspects of their Mediterranean selection. However, eating here was still an enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be returning and next time, I'll be more adventurous with the entree selection!
